Why should you convert your Cassette Tapes & Vinyl to Digital?
Digitising preserves your rare and hard to replace recordings
A great deal of music can be purchased online nowadays, however many old recordings will never be available this way. And if you don't have the original music players for your Vinyl, Cassettes & CDs anymore, digitising your music means you'll finally be able to enjoy it again.
Relive your personal audio recordings
If you've got audio cassette tapes with a special event like a funeral service, an interview, diary entries, or just random recordings done for the fun of it, you can finally relive some of the old memories on them. If there are dictaphone tapes (microcassettes) at your workplace that contain important recordings that need to be preserved for the organisation, getting them digitised means they can be stored and accessed in your filing system.
Your recordings are at risk of mould, scratches and degradation
Vinyl, Cassettes & CDs kept in storage for long periods of time are at risk of damage from mould, and vinyl and CDs are prone prone to scratches, all of which can shorten their useable lifespan considerably. Transferring them to digital format eliminates the risk of further degradation to your cherished recordings.
Listen to your music wherever you go
Converting your music to digital means you can transfer your music collection to your phone, tablet, computer or the Cloud and enjoy the convenience of being able to listen to it everywhere you go.
Have peace of mind in the event of theft, loss or natural disaster
Should the worst happen, a digital copy of your music and audio recordings means you can rest easy knowing it's safely backed up.

Our Music & Audio Conversion Services
We use professional audio equipment to convert your 12 inch and 7 inch Vinyl, your Cassettes, Dictaphone Tapes (Microcassettes), and rip your CDs to digital so that you can play your music and audio recordings through your computer's music player (e.g. iTunes), your smartphone or hi-fi system.
For Vinyl, prior to conversion we use a wet deep-cleaning method to remove dust particles from the grooves that accumulate over a long period of time. Undertaking this step has a big bearing on how your digitised records will sound.
We then use professional software to enhance and clean up your Vinyl and Cassette Tape recordings, reducing hiss, clicks and crackles. In most cases we can improve the sound quality of your recordings - you may be nicely surprised at what we can achieve for you! We will also label your music album files with track names, artist information and year of release so you can find that obscure album track with ease.
We can upload your digitised audio files to our Cloud server* for you to download them to your computer or we can transfer your files to a USB**, or burn to CD.
Turn around time for our conversion service is generally between one and four weeks, but if it's urgent just let us know and we'll do our best to accommodate you. Our office is located in Wellington CBD. You can either drop off your items to us or courier them to us (Signature Required only).
**If you have a large number of items to be digitised, or if you have encountered problems in the past with unzipping files on your device or experience internet connection issues we recommend that we supply you with your files on USB instead of downloading from Cloud. Please note, to minimise the risk of viruses we are only able to accept brand new or if used, formatted USBs with no files on them. We can also supply USBs (see PRICING page for details). If you wish, you can supply us with a hard drive to transfer your files to (note - all files must be moved off before providing to us).
*IMPORTANT: Under copyright law in New Zealand, it is legal to have a copy of commercially-released music/recordings in a different format (e.g. burned to CD; MP3) for each device you own for your own personal use. So this means for commercially-released Vinyl, CDs Audio Cassettes we can only provide you with your digitised files on either the Cloud or on one USB/hard drive (in addition to CD if required for your vinyl or cassettes), but you can put a duplicate copy on each device you own (e.g. your smart phone, home computer, or MP3 player). We are unable to convert music or items recorded off the radio or home-made mixed/compilation tapes/CDs. Click here for further information.
