Your 8mm Film is Deteriorating - Digitise it Now!
Types of film we can transfer
We can transfer silent Standard 8mm Film (also referred to as Normal or Regular 8mm) and Super 8 Film.
How to identify the type of film you have
Standard 8mm Film and Super 8 Film is 8mm wide. Films with magnetic strip(s) have sound capability. At this stage we are not able to digitise film with sound.
Reel sizes we can accept
We can transfer 8mm film that is on any reel up to 7 inches in diameter, including three of the most common reel sizes: 3 inches diameter (50 feet); 5 inches diameter (200 feet); and 7 inches in diameter (400 feet). If you have film on reels of sizes other than these, or if you have 5 and 7 inch reels to be digitised that are not completely full, contact us for a quote.

Our 8mm Film Conversion & Editing Services
We can transfer silent Standard 8mm Film and Super 8 Film to digital format so you can view your files easily on any computer, mobile device or through your TV screen*. Your digitised files will be in MP4 format, enabling you to share and easily edit your home movies.
We use a dedicated 8mm HD film scanner that scans each individual frame of film one-by-one using a progressive scan capture system. The cold LED light source built into our scanner ensures there is no risk of your film burning. Our scanner pulls the maximum details out of the frame, resulting in flicker-free transfers to digital that don’t soften the detail in the image and ideal for viewing on a TV screen.
Once your film has been converted, we can tidy up your footage to give it a more polished look and feel. This includes editing out gaps and jumps in film frames (common on old film due to splices and damage to sprocket holes from old film projectors), as well as a more advanced level of colour, contrast and exposure correction.
We will upload your digitised film to our Cloud server** for you to download the files to your computer. In addition, we can transfer your files to a USB***.
Turn around time for our conversion service is generally between one and four weeks, but if it's urgent just let us know and we'll do our best to accommodate you. Our office is located in Wellington CBD. You can either drop off your items to us or courier them to us (Signature Required only).
*Note: some models of TV do not support MP4 playback so we recommend testing MP4 playback on your TV first.
**If you have a large number of items to be digitised and have encountered problems in the past with unzipping files on your device or if you experience internet connection issues we recommend that we supply you with your files on USB.
***Please note, to minimise the risk of viruses we are only able to accept brand new or if used, formatted USBs with no files on them. We can also supply USBs (see PRICING page for details).
IMPORTANT: Under copyright law we are unable to digitise commercially-released material.
